Beyond Headlines. The Complete Story.
New Delhi: Schools across Delhi-NCR have introduced bridge classes after the strict implementation of the NEP 2020 age criteria requiring children to be six years old for admission to Class 1. Students who have completed UKG but do not meet the age requirement are being enrolled in programmes such as UKG-2 and Alpha-1 to continue their learning.
These bridge classes focus on strengthening literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills while preparing children for primary education. While educators believe the initiative supports age-appropriate learning and smoother academic transition, many parents have expressed concerns over the unexpected delay in Class 1 admissions.
