Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 57th Convocation of IIT Delhi, encouraging graduates to focus on continuous learning, innovation and self-improvement rather than comparing their achievements with others.
“Life is not a leaderboard; the real competition is with oneself,” Modi told the graduating students, urging them not to measure their lives by someone else’s salary, company, city, country or startup.
A total of 3,036 students graduated from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes this year. The graduating batch includes 1,049 BTech, 567 MTech, 248 MBA, 243 MSc and 587 PhD students, while 181 students received dual BTech-MTech degrees.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus.
Highlighting the rapidly changing technology landscape, Modi said students must remain curious and continue learning as industries, professions and global power equations evolve. He encouraged them to approach major challenges by breaking them into smaller problems.
He also highlighted emerging opportunities in AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, space technology, deep technology, electric mobility, energy security and critical minerals.
Calling research and innovation essential for India’s future, Modi urged young graduates to create new knowledge and contribute to building a developed, technologically advanced and self-reliant India.
